Frances grew up with three younger brothers. She kept them in order by telling them stories and writing plays for them to perform (but they never turned up for rehearsals). Now she has two children of her own to boss around, called Marianne and George. They give her lots of ideas for books. Frances thinks that the best time to mull over ideas is when you are doing something completely different - like sleeping. She suggests you don't try this at school, though, as your teacher might not agree.
Collins Big Cat is a guided reading series for ages 4--7 edited by Cliff Moon. Top children's authors and illustrators have created fiction and non-fiction books that your children will love to read, banded to help you choose the right book for every child. Practical teaching notes are included at the back of each book. Rebecca went to the funfair with mum and dad. She didn't like the hall of mirrors, and the rollercoaster made her turn green - but when she won lots of prizes on a stall, she decided that she like the funfair after all! The humorous illustrations show Rebecca's gradual change of opinion about the funfair, and include lots of details for early readers to talk about. A map of the fair at the end allows readers to follow Rebecca's journey and recount the story. Yellow (Band 3) books offer varied sentence structure and natural langauge. This book is told in rhyme.
