One night, she hears an eerie howl from the nearby mountain - a wild cat. Can she confront her shyness and go in search of this rare animal? This sensitive story by award-winning author Berlie Doherty shows that courage and friendship can come from unexpected places. Pearl/Band 18 books offer fluent readers a complex, substantial text with challenging themes to facilitate sustained comprehension, bridging the gap between a reading programme and longer chapter books. Text type: A mystery story. Curriculum links: Citizenship: Choices. This book has been quizzed for Accelerated Reader.
