Collins Big Cat supports every primary child on their reading journey from phonics to fluency. Top authors and illustrators have created fiction and non-fiction books that children love to read. Book banded for guided and independent reading, there are reading notes in the back, comprehensive teaching and assessment support and ebooks available. Ever since their school started practising for a new spelling competition, Hana's brother Adil has been distant and grumpy. With the support of a teacher, Adil learns to embrace his unique learning style and gains the confidence to be himself. Lime Plus/Band 11+ books provide challenging plots and vocabulary as well as opportunities to practise inference, prediction and reading stamina. Pages 46 and 47 allow children to re-visit the content of the book, supporting comprehension skills, vocabulary development and recall. Ideas for reading in the back of the book provide practical support and stimulating activities.

Shagufta K Iqbal is an award winning dyslexic writer who grew up in Bristol and now lives in London, with her husband, her children and step-children, her cats and tea cups. There are many places she has called a home, but this is by far her favourite one. She writes about place and belonging, because family and community are important to her. Shagufta's writing has been featured in a wide range of anthologies, including Slam: You're Gonna Wanna Hear This (Macmillan), Spin! (Otter-Barry Books), and The Best Poetry Book in the World (Burning Eye Books). Alongside her published work, Shagufta's poetry and storytelling have been commissioned by leading organisations such as the V&A, Tate Lates, Southbank Centre, WOMAD Festival and CBBC.
