Let's Read Together

This book is a guide to supporting adult/child interactions during storybook reading, by observing key behaviors that contribute to development of emergent literacy. Using the Adult/Child Interactive Reading Inventory (ACIRI), family literacy teachers can assess joint storybook reading under natural conditions in homes, preschool centers, and other settings. The book explains how to administer the ACIRI and then use the information gathered to make reading more interesting and beneficial for each child. The book describes non-threatening methods for teaching parents and other caregivers how best to assist their children in developing important literacy skills for school. Included with this guide are photocopiable versions of the ACIRI in English and Spanish.
