Alice Hemming studied illustration part-time while working at Middlesex University, which gave her the idea of writing for illustrators. She has now had a number of books published for younger readers. Alice regularly visits local schools, hoping to inspire future authors.
She watched as her friends were ignored. She had her revenge after her death. The Care Home is a book-banded reading book for developing readers, carefully levelled at Green Book Band for guided reading. Beautifully illustrated throughout, this fiction story is suitable for struggling teen and adult readers. The Care Home features a longer, less structured text with a more extended vocabulary. It has more varied and longer sentences, no repetition, and includes made-up words. Story events are longer and there are more words on each page. The Care Home is part of Ransom's Neutron Stars, a structured reading programme for teens and adults learning the basics of reading. The series offers progression through ten levels of reading, four phonics and six coloured book bands. More information on the structure of the scheme can be found here.
